DEVOTION

2020

Devotion is a durational visual performance in three movements. Designed for ChaShaMa’s Space to Present storefront gallery at 266 West 37th Street, Devotion is a public art project made possible by ChaShaMa’s Enlivening NYC Grant- a National Endowment for the Arts and New York State Council on the Arts funded presentation award.

Movement I - 1 dancer creates a room-size painting over 180-hours in 20 days.

Movement II - 1 dancer performs a 14-hour adagio that builds over 7 days. The painting evolves with the dance.

Movement III - 1 dancer covers the painting with white paint, and performs the completed adagio in a painted costume.
